Anglia is delighted to announce that the Nathaniel Wade Lifetime Achievement award from the prestigious International Guild of Battlefield Guides has been awarded to our Chairman, Alain Chissel.
The award was presented at the Guild of Battlefield Guide’s AGM held in Leicester at the weekend in front of a host of luminaries from the academic and guiding world.
Alain was invited to attend in order to present the Will Townend Award, which is named after a former Anglia guide now sadly deceased. This award went to Graeme Cooper, another former Anglia guide. It really was a night for Anglia as Gareth Davies, one of our newest guides also received the David Chandler award.
Alain was both shocked and surprised;
“I had no idea that this was coming at all and for the first time in many years I was completely lost for words and couldn’t even reply, other than to say thank you. It is humbling to be recognised by your peers in this way but it really is an Anglia team effort. We did set the standard for guided history tours in the UK, setting the bar high, which other companies now try to emulate. This, along with the fact that many of our itineraries have now been endorsed by Pearson Edexcel, has meant a raising of the standard of history based tours offered by tour operators across the board. I feel immensely proud.”
