To meet an ever growing demand to include a more active component in our standard battlefield tours, Anglia has developed a series of battlefield walks. Each of these comprises a planned walk over battlefield terrain, with stops carefully selected to cover thematic or narrative components, chosen for their relevance to curriculum needs or the ground you are covering.
Whether it be the Redan and Hawthorn Ridges on the Somme, where so many died in tragic circumstances on 1st July 1916, Bazentin Ridge, where the British Army demonstrated the dramatic progress made just two weeks later, or the Passchendaele Memorial Walk from Zonnebeke to Tyne Cot, following the route taken by the ANZACs in October 1917, these walks allow your students to stretch their legs whilst exploring the ground in more detail than a traditional coach-based tour can allow.
Your guided tour will incorporate the following key study themes to support your learning back in the classroom.
At Anglia we care about our customers, our staff, the places we visit, the stories we tell and the organisations we work with. These key principles define who we are and what we do. We believe they are also the reason why Anglia is the market leader in fully-guided history trips for UK schools. We work with you to design a bespoke tour which meets the specific needs of your school and which supports what you are teaching in class. We start by asking what you want your students to see and what you want them to experience then build the tour around these requirements. A tour which, as the testimonials on our website show, your students will find thought-provoking, engaging and enjoyable.
