For those schools studying WJEC Eduqas non-British Depth Study Option 1G: Germany in Transition 1919-1939, Anglia is delighted to be able to offer a fully-guided 3-day tour to Berlin, which focuses in depth on the selected issues and themes included in this module.
The tour begins with a visit to the excellent German History Museum where your students will have the opportunity to examine the impact the First World War had on Germany and the challenges faced by the Weimar Republic. Your Anglia guide will then walk you through central Berlin and, at various locations such as the Lustgarten, Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag building, will explore the rise of the Nazi Party.
Your second day begins with a guided tour of the former Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. Here we focus on how the Nazis began to consolidate power and how terror and persuasion were used to control all aspects of life. These are themes we then develop with visits later that afternoon culminating in a tour of the impressive stadium built to host the 1936 Olympic Games.
Your final day includes a chance to view the Trains to Life - Trains to Death Memorial, where we look at both the development of Nazi anti-semitic policies and the response to these in Germany and abroad; and the Topography of Terror exhibition, where we examine how terror was used by organisations such as the Gestapo and SS
Your guided tour will incorporate the following key study themes to support your learning back in the classroom.

At Anglia we care about our customers, our staff, the places we visit, the stories we tell and the organisations we work with. These key principles define who we are and what we do. We believe they are also the reason why Anglia is the market leader in fully-guided history trips for UK schools. We work with you to design a bespoke tour which meets the specific needs of your school and which supports what you are teaching in class. We start by asking what you want your students to see and what you want them to experience then build the tour around these requirements. A tour which, as the testimonials on our website show, your students will find thought-provoking, engaging and enjoyable.
