About this trip

For those students studying Pearson Edexcel's GCSE History modules 'Weimar & Nazi Germany 1918-1939' and 'Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941–91' Anglia is delighted to offer a selection of itineraries that have been endorsed by the examination board. These fully-guided tours will enhance the teaching and learning process for the related Pearson qualification.

Our 3-day fully-guided tour to Berlin begins in front of the Reichstag building where we explore the transition from Imperial Germany to Weimar Republic. Then with visits to sites such as the Sachsenhausen Memorial, the Memorial to the Murdered Members of the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate and the Bebelplatz, we will cover many of the themes included in key topics 1, 3 and 4 of this module. The second half of the 3-day tour includes key Cold War locations, such as the Cecilienhof Palace, the Allied Museum, Treptow Park Soviet Memorial and the Berlin Wall and Documentation Centre, where our guides will work with your students, exploring many of the themes covered in key topics 1 and 2 of the 'Superpower Relations and the Cold War' unit.

Our 5 and 6-day programmes both begin in Munich where we explore the rise of Hitler and look at the role of both the SA and SS. Then with visits to the Dachau Memorial and the city of Nuremberg, home of the Nazi Party Rallies, we then look at Nazi Control and Dictatorship (key topic 3) and Nazi control of culture (key topic 4.2). The tour culminates in Berlin where, in addition to much of the content included in the 3-day option, you will have a chance both to visit one of Berlin's Cold War Civil Defence Shelters and a Nuclear Bunker, as well as experiencing a tour of the former Stasi Remand Prison in Hohenschoenhausen.

Why choose Anglia for Guided History Trips?

At Anglia we care about our customers, our staff, the places we visit, the stories we tell and the organisations we work with. These key principles define who we are and what we do. We believe they are also the reason why Anglia is the market leader in fully-guided history trips for UK schools. We work with you to design a bespoke tour which meets the specific needs of your school and which supports what you are teaching in class. We start by asking what you want your students to see and what you want them to experience then build the tour around these requirements. A tour which, as the testimonials on our website show, your students will find thought-provoking, engaging and enjoyable.

Please can you pass on my thanks to both John and Sean who did a fantastic job as our guides on Friday. They were engaging and exceptionally knowledgeable which was noted by both staff and pupils. I would thoroughly recommend you as a tour provider, and hope to use you guys again in the future!

We definitely will be looking to re-book with you for next academic year
