Four long years after the dark days of Dunkirk, Allied forces launched the biggest and most ambitious military operation the world had yet seen with the invasion of Nazi-occupied Normandy. Anglia’s tailor-made tours will bring to life stories of courage and fear, disaster and success, as inexperienced soldiers leapt into the darkness of French skies or struggled ashore on bullet-swept beaches.
Your expert guides will examine the complex operation from the British, Canadian, American and German perspectives, visiting a variety of locations along the 50-mile landing zone. Over the course of your school's tour, it is possible to focus on whatever elements of the story are most relevant to your students, from the experience of the men taking on this most daunting of challenges to the uniforms, weapons and equipment utilized, some of it for the very first time.
As with most Anglia battlefield tours, it is possible to combine this visit with others in a wider study of the development of warfare over time – please contact us for more details.
Your guided tour will incorporate the following key study themes to support your learning back in the classroom.

At Anglia we care about our customers, our staff, the places we visit, the stories we tell and the organisations we work with. These key principles define who we are and what we do. We believe they are also the reason why Anglia is the market leader in fully-guided history trips for UK schools. We work with you to design a bespoke tour which meets the specific needs of your school and which supports what you are teaching in class. We start by asking what you want your students to see and what you want them to experience then build the tour around these requirements. A tour which, as the testimonials on our website show, your students will find thought-provoking, engaging and enjoyable.
